Monday, January 19

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Family Day will be held on Independence Mall today from 10am to 5pm. This free event is open to the public and will have art project, musical performances, spotlight talks, and a screening of the award-winning PBS documentary series, Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Movement

Tuesday, January 20

  • An afternoon of fitness and treats will be provided by Free People at Lithe Rittenhouse. Head over to the Rittenhouse studio from 11:30am to 3pm for free Lithe Method classes with music by DJ SYLO, healthy bites from Pure Fare and free #FPLETSMOVE tote bags for the first 50 guests to arrive.
  • Percy Street Barbecue hosts all-you-can-eat-ribs night until January 30. Get ready for unlimited servings of ribs, french fries, coleslaw, and cornbread for $27 per person from 5pm to close. Make a reservation and get your meat on!

Wednesday, January 21

  • Girl Develop It has you waking up bright and early with their Rise and Shine event at the Green Line Cafe from 7am to 9am. If you’re new to the community and want to learn what GDI is all about, come chat with other members. Talk about life, vent about work, celebrate successes and get to know one another.

Thursday, January 22

  • Jonathan Biss, an accomplished and exceptional musician, will demonstrate the prodigious technique, artistic maturity, versatility and eloquence at the keyboard that has made him one of the 21st century’s most distinctive artistic voices. Tickets are $24 and will be held at the Kimmel Center at 8pm. Get yours before they’re all gone!
  • In the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance’s invites you to attend GroundSwell Presents: A Community Engagement Forum and Reception tonight at Christ Church Neighborhood House (20 N. American Street) from 3:00 – 6:30PM to highlight the work that cultural organizations are doing in communities across the region.

Friday, January 23

  • The Arden Theater Company presents: Beauty and the Beast. Enjoy a family night with this beautiful performance showing until Sunday, February 1. Tickets range from $18-$36.
  • Seeking a winter warmer? Well, Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest will supply plenty at its first-ever Winterfest Brewfest, coming to the Penn’s Landing winter village January 23-25. During the weekend-long beer festival, Winterfest will host a variety of variety of local breweries to pour samples, as well as games like beer Quizzo, live music, and a beer lecture.
  • OIC’s Show Your Purse-N-Ality Pre-Event Pop Up at Fratelli’s Italian Bistro from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  Come drop off your purses and stay for networking opportunities. Meet the President of OIC of America, Tony Ross, and other key members of the organization.

Saturday, January 24

  • Calling all fans of AMC’s hit series, Mad Men! Celebrate like you landed a major advertising account on the Mad Men Cocktail Tour. Held every Saturday from 5pm to 7pm, tickets are $49. Join the 60’s theme and sip on the fancy old-school martinis this weekend.

Sunday, January 25

  • Spend your Sunday afternoon with butchering classes offered by Washington Square West. Each class is three hours long, starts at noon and culminates with a five-course locavore meal that highlights that class’ subject. As always, the dinners will be BYOB so plan to bring a bottle of something special to complement the food. Seats are going fast so make your reservations soon.
