Global Philadelphia’s Women International Networking Event

At Philly PR Girl, we’re all about women supporting women – personally, professionally and globally! We are huge fans of the Global Philadelphia Association and the incredible events and mixers that they host for members and the public throughout the year, but last Thursday’s mixer offered a special twist. As the GPA’s 1st Women International Networking event, the evening was all about connecting with other ladies while learning a thing or two about LinkedIn and libations.

Hosted at their offices at Reed Smith, LLP by Logan Square, the two-hour affair began with a fabulous wine tasting class courtesy of Sommelier-conseil Lauriann Greene-Sollin, who recently moved to Philadelphia from France where she founded French Wine Explorers. Each of us enjoyed a sweet white wine, one spicy red and one red that was brighter and a bit more acidic – our favorite of the lot. While guests made light conversation and nibbled at bites, Lauriann expertly walked us through the five steps of conducting a proper wine tasting with each glass.

Following this ice breaker, guest speaker of the evening, Donna Serdula, gave each of us a lesson in the five big tips for creating a compelling LinkedIn profile. Donna is a true master on the subject; author of the popular book, “LinkedIn Makeover: Professional Secrets to a POWERFUL LinkedIn Profile”, and founder of www.LinkedIn-Makeover.com, her job is helping businesses and individuals better market themselves using this social tool.

Throughout the night, attendees were welcome to take complimentary professional headshots to use on their LinkedIn accounts with photographer Chris Burkett. Meanwhile, Al B For was there to capture all the activities, and helped guests to mix and mingle while taking fabulous group shots throughout the Reed Smith office. Guests were also treated to a chance at raffle prizes, including Donna Serdula’s book and a free copy of her LinkedIn Makeover Toolbox. It was wonderful to spend an evening sharing and learning with other global-minded women who call Philadelphia home. We look forward to the second installment next year!

Until then, follow Global Philadelphia on TwitterFacebook and Instagram to hear more about their next event, which will take place around International Women’s Day early March 2015.
