Philadelphia’s Fashion Incubator at Macy’s Center City is one of Philadelphia’s best kept secrets. Each year, a handful of local designers are chosen for a twelve month “Designer-in-Residence” program where they will each design a collection, build their brand, and hone their business skills under the watchful eyes of top leaders in the fashion industry.

The non-profit fashion education initiative had its most recent event as part of the new signature events series, TSquared at The Market & Shops at Comcast Center. The Shopping Soiree debuted the Fall Collections of these incredibly promising designers.

Terese Sydonna – 2014 Designer-in-Residence

With her love of combining chic silhouettes with comfortable materials, Terese Brown has created a line that is not only beautiful but also incredibly practical in everyday use. Each piece, including her fun and fabulous bowties, is machine washable, does not wrinkle and dries quickly. To bring some couture into your conventional wardrobe, click here.

Victoria Wright – 2014 Designer-in-Residence

Her collection’s style is vintage with a modern edge. The line shows her commitment to providing unique designs catered to the individuality of each woman’s style. To check out her “whimsical, feminine, sophisticated, modern” collection, check out her website.

Jovan O’Connor – 2014 Designer-in-Residence

Jovan is known for creating statement pieces for the social butterfly. Her collection unites seemingly unrelated fun and funky fabrics into a cohesive line.  If you’re heading out to an event where you absolutely, positively cannot be caught dead wearing the same outfit as someone else, shop Jovan’s chic and playful line here.

MInkeeBlue – 2014 Designer-in-Residence

Sherrill Mosee, the founder of MinkeeBlue, was inspired to create her “Handbags for Life’s Journey” during her work with Family Care Solutions, a non-profit where she helped young mothers pursue their degrees. Seeing these women in her office struggle with a lunch bag, a diaper bag, a purse and laptop bag, she decided to create one very stylish and organized bag that does it all! You can check out this life changing tote here. (P.S. Katie Couric loves this bag!)

Supra Endura – 2014 Designer-in-Residence

Each season, Gabrielle Mandel teams up with a non-profit organization and designs original artwork that is digitally printed onto fabric to reflect each organization’s mission. With each sale, a portion of the proceeds are donated back to the non-profit. To see which inspirational network Supra Endura has paired up with this year, check out her latest collection.

Rebeca Imperiano – 2014 Designer-in-Residence

Rebeca’s timeless designs are sculpted to enhance the form of a woman’s body by combining angular lines with fine fabrics and soft draping. Before studying fashion, Rebeca was a student of architecture, which shows in the details of her design aesthetic. Don’t miss the Rebecca Imperiano Fall collection.

Senpai + Kohai – 2013 Designers-in-Residence

In Japanese, Senpai + Kohai are the words used to describe a master and his apprentice. Melissa Choi and Pia Panaligan were students of fashion during their time in the Incubator and have now truly mastered their craft, teaming up to create Senpai + Kohai. This unique line incorporates vintage materials into their reworked pieces essentially allowing each piece and and each textile to teach the designer about its own truest form. For a look at their current collection, click here. (They even have a Design your Denim option if you have a denim jacket that seriously needs an update!)

Granate Pret – 2013 Designer-in-Residence

Annina King, designer of Granate Pret and Granate Couture, combines her love of history and historic costume to create an artisanal, handcrafted line. Her pieces feature feminine, organic lines within a structured garment, and her incredible attention to detail is present in every piece. Check out Granate Pret here.

Pretty Pretty Rebel – 2013 Designer-in-Residence

Last – but certainly not least- is one of our clients, Leah D. of Pretty Pretty Rebel. Recently featured on FOX Good Day Philadelphia, Leah’s children’s line is inspired by her love of rock and roll. Her fierce, American-made line is inspired by her funky spirit and boundless imagination that have been evident since her days of interning with style icon and fellow designer, Betsey Johnson. Shop for the pint-sized punk rocker in your life here!

Follow all of these emerging fashion superstars as they finish out the remainder of their time and continue their journey after Philadelphia’s Fashion Incubator on Facebook, on Twitter, and on Instagram.
