Last night Philadelphia Magazine held the 2nd annual Battle of the Burger presented by Amstel Light.  The event, held at the Piazza at Schmidt’s, was packed with hungry folks, amazing smells, and some of our favorite restaurants in Philadelphia.

The winner of the 2014 Battle of the Burger was Justin Swain from REX 1516!  You must head over to 1516 South Street to try his pimento burger ASAP. He’ll be heading to Florida for the Amstel Light Finals soon.   Good luck Justin!

Here are some of our favorite burgers of the night:

  1. What a farce!! The winner was selling tickets out of their restaurant for half price, using the promo code they were given to use for family and friends!! Who wouldn’t go to the event and vote for the place that got them in for half price?! Shame on them! Their burger was dry. It’s ashame because the burger from Hickory Lane Bistro was right next to them and was by far the best burger there. Juicy and flavorful. Everything the pimento burger wasn’t!!
