First Friday Interview: Roberta from Homemade Delish

Roberta Homemade Delish

Roberta Pipito is the brains and beauty behind one of the region’s most popular foodie blogs, Homemade Delish. She shares her mouthwatering family recipes and reports on awesome food outposts, bars, and events happening locally. We’re also very excited to announce that Roberta will be joining us as a judge for the 2nd Aannual MANNA Guac Off* on Sunday, June 22rd. Often referred to as Philadelphia’s Rachael Ray, Roberta Pipito took the time to chat with us about what influences and excites her about the city’s dining scene.

Philly PR Girl: How long have you been Homemade Delish, and what inspired you to start blogging?

Roberta: Homemade Delish is three years old now. My husband was the one that suggested I start a blog featuring my recipes and writing about the events I attend.

Philly PR Girl: How have your Brazilian and Italian roots influenced your palette and cooking?

Roberta: Coming from cultures that love to cook has helped. Growing up in my house, we always had to try things twice. Your palette grows with you. I always tell people, “Don’t be scared to try things – you might end up loving it.” Having a Brazilian and Italian background has really helped me explore different foods to create.

Philly PR Girl: What are some of your own favorite recipes, especially for summer?

Roberta: We love to grill in my house during the summer. One of our favorites would have to be salmon. Take a big piece of aluminum foil and place a nice salmon piece on it. Season with salt and pepper, olive oil, garlic, and slices of lemon. Put it on the grill, and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, depending in how well you like your salmon cooked. I love fresh salads with fruit, so it’s served with a side of delicious white balsamic arugula and strawberry salad.

Philly PR Girl: You’ve been featured in many events and media such as The Dawn Show and EyeOpener! Which was your favorite experience and why?

Roberta: It would have to be ABC’s The Chew; that was a dream! Being on national television is a completely different experience. The cast is outstanding and friendly. I also got to meet one of my favorite chefs, Lidia Bastianich, on the show that day.

Philly PR Girl:Which foodie events are you most looking forward to attending this summer?

Roberta: Right now I would say “The Great Chefs Event” held by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and the Atlantic City Wine and Food Festival (for which Homemade Delish will likely be doing a demo).

Philly PR Girl: What are your all-time favorite bars and restaurants in Philadelphia?

Roberta: I would have to say Yards Brewery and pretty much all of East Passyunk Ave. restaurants like Will BYOB and Noord.

Philly PR Girl: In what ways can we expect to see your brand develop and grow in the future?

Roberta: Well, I just released my first cookbook, “Create It, Plate It, Style It, Eat It, Love It” a couple months ago in April. I have a lot of secret projects in the works right now for television, so keep your eyes open Homemade Delish will be hitting the small screen soon!
