Monday, April 14th

  • Art Unleashed Public Exhibition – In its 5th year, the University of the Arts showcases the work of emerging and established artists. These include contemporary jewelry, photography, ceramics, crafts, painting, furniture and more, contributed by students, faculty, and alumni in an exhibition and sale running through the 15th.
  • Learning to Hack for Fun – Girl Develop It Philadelphia hosts an evening class on the ins and outs of how malicious hacking works, and how to ensure your safety and privacy online. Tickets are $25 to attend.

Tuesday, April 15th

  • The Yachtsman Grand Opening – Travel back in time to the 1950’s at The Yachtsman, Northern Liberties’ newest eatery that pays homage to post WWII tiki-style bars. Dreamt up by Tommy Up and Sarah Brown (PYT, Emmanuelle), this authentic nautical establishment with a capacity of 45 will open its doors to a sea of guests on Tuesday at 4 pm.
  • A New Generation of Political Leaders – Join The Philadelphia Citizen Speaks for a discussion about creating and cultivating a new generation of political leadership and activism that is more connected and intuitive to its citizens’ needs. A diverse panel of political rising stars will divulge the challenges and opportunities in swaying Philly’s political climate. RSVPs are required.

Wednesday, April 16th

  • 8th Annual Philadelphia Book Festival – In celebration of National Library Week, the Free Library of Philadelphia along with its 54 branch locations are hosting numerous events for bookworms. Between the 14th and 19th, attend meet the author events, crafts and book-making, and other events for readers of any and all ages.
  • Dear Diary, Bye. – Plays and Players Theater delights with a reading of the diary of nine-year old Ellie Brown, written in 1984. Written and produced by Ellie, the play is performed by a grown man, interpreting the text as his own, making for a humorous, cringe-worthy, and empathetic juxtaposition that bridges both age and gender.

Thursday, April 17th

  • The 16th Annual Fairmount Bunny Hop – Spring is in the air! Get in the mood with a bar crawl through Fairmount where bunny ears are required! Starting at 6:30 pm, Blue Moon is offering drink specials at all 13 restaurants and bars throughout the night.
  • Blood, Sweat, and Dance – Philly’s leading contemporary dance troupe, Philadanco, comes to the Kimmel Center with a dynamic program of four works: “Suite En Bleu”, “Philadelphia Experiment”, “Bamm”, and a company premiere of Ulysses Dove’s “Bad Blood”. Tickets are $29 to $46.

Friday, April 18th

  • Stephen “Ragga” Marley at the Troc – The five-time Grammy award winner and son of reggae legend Bob Marley and member of Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers takes his solo tour to the Trocadero. Tickets are $27.50 and featured openers are Joe Mersa and Wayne Marshall.
  • Eastern State Penitentiary Pop-Up Museum – Through April 22nd, explore nearly 100 artifacts from the prison’s collection of objects, art, photos, books, and more that revolve around the chilling theme of “Sin & Salvation”. Admittance to the exhibition is included in regular admission prices.

Saturday, April 19th

  • Philly Loves Def Jam – Def Jam and host Chill Moody will be playing at Johnny Brenda’s at 9 p.m. with opening sets by Mike Nyce, Mr. Sonny James and DJ Scratch of EPMD. Tickets are $10 before 11 p.m.
  • Center City Jazz Fest – Fergie’s Pub, Chris’ Jazz Cafe, Time, and Milkboy Philly will be hosting jazz artists and groups all day long, with a total of 16 sets. One tickets gets you full access to all four venues from 1 to 7 p.m.
  • Tea with the Easter Bunny – From 1 to 3 p.m., sip tea from china glasses and nibble on sandwiches and finger foods at the Radnor Hotel. There will also be crafts, storytelling, a sing-a-long with piano accompaniment, and an appearance by the Easter Bunny himself. Advanced ticket purchase is required.

Sunday, April 20th

  • 83rd Annual Easter Promenade – Starting at 12:30 p.m., bring your family out to the South Street Headhouse district for Easter fun. Enjoy treats, the Bunny Hop, a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cottontail, live music and a “Best Dressed” Competition.
  • Fossil Exhibit – The South Jersey Museum of American History’s current exhibition displays fossils which represent the bio and geological changes that have occurred on Earth over the past 1.5 billion years, covering all periods from the Precambrian through the Quaternary.
  • Yelp’s Fit Club – Pick and choose from over a dozen free fitness courses in the month of April. Nearly every day there is a class to choose from, including power yoga, cycling, and cardio blast, plus special events on health, beauty and wellness. See the full list of events here.
