Inaugural Philly Wine Week Preview

philly-wine-week-2014

The first annual Philly Wine Week is upon us and, as always, Philly PR Girl has the scoop on all of the great events they have planned. The festivities kicked off yesterday with “Bubbles & Barrels” at Ristorante Panorama, but there are plenty more fabulous events to attend for the remainder of the week. Here’s a quick rundown on how you can wind down around the city.

  • Barbuzzo | This Mediterranean restaurant will be featuring a new meal and wine pairing every night of the week, starting at $25 per person. If you really want to indulge, visit them on Tuesday night for a four-course feast at $65 per person.

  • Bistro St. Tropez | The Bistro’s festivities don’t begin until Wednesday, so you have some time to prepare. One of their unique events is Game Night on Thursday. Feel free to BYOG (bring your own game) and enjoy a tasting of five wines.

  • Garces Trading Co. | For the refined palettes out there, join the Iron Chef restaurant for an exclusive wine dinner on Wednesday. Each course will be paired with a different glass of wine, and you’ll end the night with a light dessert of olive oil panna cotta with grapefruit, honey, and almonds. Delicious!

  • Jamonera | Another great Turney-Safran Midtown spot, Jamonera will have an event every night of the week. On the 31st, Terence Lewis, Beverage Director of Jamonera, Barbuzzo, and Little Nonna’s, will host a “Sherry 101 Class and Tasting” featuring seven different sherries and snacks. For $75 per person, it sounds like it will be well worth it.

  • Tria | All three Tria venues have decided to join in on the Philly Wine Week fun. The Rittenhouse, Washington Square West, and Taproom locations will all be hosting events throughout the week including “A Very Bubbly 5 for 5” every day from 5-7pm.

  • Jet Wine Bar | If you prefer a more casual scene, check out Jet Wine Bar on South Street. With $5 wine specials and a “Wines of Rap” night featuring moscato and rosé, how can you go wrong?

  • Cooperage | Want to see if you’ve retained any knowledge throughout the week? Come out to Cooperage on Sunday, March 31 for “Wine Quizzo” and test your skills and under-the-influence memory.

Keep your eyes open for these Philly Wine Week events as well:

  • #ToastAt10 | Every night of Philly Wine Week there will be a rotating Toast at 10pm. Make sure to check the website to find out where the toast will be hosted for the night.

  • Closing Event | All good things must come to an end, and Philly Wine Week has opted to end with a closing party at Marc Vetri’s Alla Spina. Come out on Sunday, March 31 at 9pm to mix, mingle, and share your wine week stories.

This inaugural wine celebration is sure to make its mark on Philadelphia. For more information on Philly Wine Week and a full list of vendors, check out their website and follow them on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates.
