A Philly Sports Fan’s Guide to the Superbowl

Super Bowl XLVIII is right around the corner. Whether you’re lucky enough to travel to New Jersey for the big game or staying here in Philadelphia, here’s a list of our top picks on where to watch the game, both in NYC and Philly!

 New York City

If you’re around the corner from the stadium in the Big Apple here are a few bars that are Eagles fans friendly.

  •  Wogies Bar and Grill. As a critic’s choice of New York Magazine, you can’t go wrong spending Sunday night at Wogies. They were also listed as one of the top five places to get wings in NYC. What’s even better? They pride themselves in their food being 100% all natural with no added hormones. How’s that for a win-win?
  • Shorty’s. If you’re craving a little taste of home on game night, no other place in NYC does cheesesteak better. In fact, Shorty’s even has its bread shipped from Philly! With four locations, including one on wheels, the taste of South Philly can be a lot closer than you think.
  • Merrion Square. What’s better than a cold beer during the game? How about a free burger to go along with it! Feeling more like wings instead? That’s fine. Buy a pitcher of beer and those can be free as well. If you’re looking for a great time without breaking the bank, Merrion is clearly the place to do it.

 Philadelphia

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with staying in town for the game. While you’re avoiding the major traffic, you can kick back at one of these local spots.

  • Varga Bar. Make sure to check out “Super Fowl IV!” For the fourth year Varga Bar will be hosting a competition to see who can make the best wings. This year’s challenge will be between defending champion Chef Evan Turney and Cat Downs. Varga Bar will also be running specials on wings, draft beer, and whiskey because, honestly, how can you watch the game without them? Also our very own Kate will be the special guest judge along with DJ Royal, Roberta from Homedelish, and DJ Kevin Kong for the competition.
  • City Tap House. If you aren’t interested in being out during game time but want to have fun beforehand, come pregame at Brunch With Founders. From 11am-3pm City Tap House will be serving brunch items inspired by Founders brew. Reservations are suggested so act fast!
  • Cavanaugh’s. You can’t go wrong with an old favorite. With draft specials under $5 and free halftime hoagies, this is another spot to enjoy the game with friends without putting a dent in your pocket. If you’re just interested in ordering food from Cavanaugh’s, you can place your Super Bowl wings order today. They have a limited supply so you’ll want to put that in right now!
