Monday, October 21st

  • Paella & Sangria Night – Jamonera hosts a special menu tasting for $35 per person. Dishes include bites to share, a seafood, mixta, or vegetarian paella for two, and a pitcher of sangria for the table. Call to make reservations, and check out the full menu here.
  • Boobie Bingo – The Irish Pol continues its annual game night for breast cancer with its 5th year of Monday night Boobie Bingo, hosted by Couzin Ed (Eagles on-field announcer). Tuesday, October 22nd

  • Fitness & Skin Care Dinner Meet Up – Rachel Pontillo of Holistically Haute and health and fitness expert Steph Hendel are hosting a discussion about “5 Fall Secrets for a Fit Body and Flawless Skin” and promoting Rachel’s new book, “#LoveYourSkin, Love Yourself: Achieve Beauty, Health, and Vitality” at a special price. The event will take place from 6:30 to 8 pm at Harvest Seasonal Grill in North Whales, where 90% of the menu is under 500 calories, and the restaurant utilizes organic, farm-to-table, seasonal ingredients.   • When Politics Worked – MSNBC Hardball host and author Chris Matthews speaks at the National Constitution Center in promotion of his most recent book, “Tip and the Gipper: When Politics Worked” at 7 p.m. As the former chief of staff to Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill, Matthews will talk about the friendship between O’Neill and President Ronald Reagan, the power shift between executive and legislative branches, and his ideas for bipartisan cooperation. Tickets are $30 and include a copy of the book.

Wednesday, October 23rd

  • Hope Chest 1 Year Anniversary Bash – Rittenhouse Square’s premiere lingerie and shapewear boutique is celebrating one year in their new home. Come celebrate from 6 to 9 pm with complimentary drinks and light bites, and enjoy 10% off of store merchandise. Makeup consultations, blowouts, and massages will be offered, and guests can peruse offerings from trunk shows featuring Cass Luxury Shapewear, Mimi Holliday Lingerie, and Daniel Hechter.
  • PhillyCAM Anniversary – All day Wednesday, PhillyCAM studio will be producing a special live cablecast, on TV and online, to commemorate their 4th year of public access in Philadelphia. Tune in for the regularly scheduled Wednesday line-up of producers, and also to see special guests and surprises.
  • Witch Craft Beer Crawl – Also in its 4th year, 14 of East Passyunk Avenue’s best bars and restaurants are participating in the annual four-hour bar crawl. Witches hats will be provided upon admission – tickets are $6.66, get them in advance here – and craft beers will run you only $3 from 5:30 to 9:30.

Thursday, October 24th

  • Philadelphia Whiskey & Fine Spirits Festival – In its 10th year, PhillyMag’s spirit fest at the Linc takes place from 6:30 to 9. Guests will sample dozens of whiskeys, scotches, bourbons, rums, and more, from distilleries hailing from all across the globe. Tickets are $95, $150 for VIP, and all spirits will be available for purchase at the event.
  • GLOW in the Park at FDR – Join the Fairmount Park Conservancy as they light up the historic boathouse, lakes, golf course, skate park and more. Enjoy a fun night with other park lovers over an open bar and food truck bites (included in ticket price), and be entertained by firedancers, special surprises, and the glow of the lights at night time. Tickets are $75 in advance (which includes a year-long membership); $45 for FPC members.

Friday, October 25th

  • Fashion Friday – The Drexel Historic Costume Collection is hosting its first, full-day “Fashion Fridays” event from 9:45 am to 3 pm at the URBN Center. A special lecture/presentation on the History of 1920’s Fashion will take place, by DHCC Curator Clare Sauro, and tickets include lunch. The event is limited to 50 guests, but will be held quarterly.
  • Peter Sterling Halloween Ball 2013 – The most blinged-out Halloween party ever has moved from the suburbs to Center City for it’s 3rd year. The dance floor will be going from 9 pm to 1 am, with entertainment by the way of a Thriller Show, burlesque and drag show, DJs and costume contests with incredible prizes, including 2 and 3-night stays in Las Vegas and DC.
  • Art After 5 – From 5 to 8:45 pm, enjoy the Philadelphia Museum of Art as an after-hours backdrop to drinks, music, and more. The Great Stair Hall will become a buzzing cocktail party with bites from Stephen Starr Events, offered for the general museum price of admission ($20 for adults).

Saturday, October 26th

  • Twin Sister Designer team, HL Collection, launches their new line from 5-8pm at Showroom 77.  All fashion industry professionals are invited to this free event! 
  • Magical Musical Halloween – The Philadelphia Orchestra is putting on a special seasonal performance, featuring illusional acts by Cirque de la Symphonie, at 11:30 am. Song selects include “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter, Dukas The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, “Flight to Neverland” from Hook, and excerpts from The Fantastic Toyshop. Tickets run from $19 – 47.
  • Zombie Thriller Dance-Off – Grab a ripped-up shirt and pants and don your best zombie makeup for Manayunk’s three part dance contest on Cotton Street with cash prizes for the Best Dancer and Best Zombie Costume, for participants of all ages. RSVP to the event and learn the dance moves to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” here. Face-painting, pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, costume parades and more will also be happening all day on Main Street and in Pretzel Park!
  • Panel Discussion: Women in the Civil War – Three scholars will gather at the Penn Museum to discuss the effects of the American Civil War on women in the north and south as they began farming, accounting, industrial work, and continued homemaking. The event is free and open to the public at 2-3:30 pm.

Sunday, October 27th

  • Redwood One Year Anniversary – Bill Curry turned the clothing store next to his South Street bar, Copabanana, into a swanky wine bar and bistro one year ago. Celebrate the anniversary mark with free champagne toasts at brunch on Saturday and Sunday this week from 11:30 am to 4 pm.
  • Twisted: A Dickensian Murder – The Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion hosts a murder mystery experience in the style of “Clue”. For $16 each, guests go from room to room and are greeted by actors portraying who-done-it suspects. This year, the theme is solving the murder of Oliver Twist with Charles Dickens’ colorful array of characters as the suspects and witnesses.
  • 7th Annual Halloween Arts Festival – Fairmount’s Art Center is hosting a craft-filled festival, free for all ages. Come in costume and enjoy hands-on arts projects, an interactive music performance, face paintings, a student art show, tricks or treats, pumpkin painting and food trucks.
