Here’s whats going on this week in Philly.  

Tuesday, September 3rd

  • Nick Offerman – WMMR’s Preston and Steve present Nick Offerman (best known as Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation) on his American Ham comedy tour at the Tower Theatre.
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the Troc – Movie Tuesdays upstairs at the Troc start at 8 pm with doors opening at 6:30. $3 gets you admission and goes toward a drink. For 21+.

Wednesday, September 4th

  • Little Nonnas Opening – The Queens of Midtown are opening their latest venture on 13th Street: Little Nonnas, an Italian “red-sauce” restaurant, and Turney and Safran’s seventh business on the block.
  • HOB 20th Anniversary – Yellowcard presents an acoustic set of their best known album, Ocean Avenue, at the TLA. Opening act is Geoff Rickly, and tickets are $38 total with fees.

Thursday, September 5th – The Philly PR Girl Industry Networking Event! 

  • 2013 FringeArts – The Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe begins! Hundreds of performances will be taking place across the city now until September 22nd, and this is the first year for FringeArts’ new home office and venue on the Delaware River Waterfront.
  • Brand New Beginners Yoga – Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm at Wake Up Yoga in South Philadelphia. Classes take place September 5th through October 24th, for $120.

Friday, September 6th

  • Philadelphia Honey Festival – The PHF hopes to raise awareness about the importance of honey bees to our environment, food supply and economy, and does so with happy hours, film screenings, children’s events, live demonstrations, gardening tutorials, a fall plant sale, and more – all for free!
  • First Sip Friday: Sip, Chat and Shop – Discounted wine tasting at Pinot Boutique during First Friday! $4 for 5 tastings from Paradox and Auburn Road Winery. For $15, enjoy VIP service in the Cellar at Pino with complimentary nibbles, 5 more pours, and a gift bag. RSVP here!
  • An Evening with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg – Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg joins National Constitution Center President Jeffrey Rosen at 7:30 pm to discuss a wide range of issues. Reservations are required.
  • All Dressed Up: Fashions for Children and Their Families – The Philadelphia Museum of Art’s current exhibition showcases clothing from the late eighteenth through mid-twentieth centuries. See how clothing culture evolved in levels of styles and appropriateness for kids versus adults. Free with museum admission.
  • Art After 5 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art with The Underwoods.

Saturday, September 7th

  • Kennett Square Mushroom Festival – The mushroom capital of the world is in celebration mode on the 7th and 8th! From culinary demonstrations, farm tours, food eating contests, parades, grants, and the 2013 Mushroom Walk, there is something for everybody to enjoy.
  • Hemp Heals Music Festival – The Festival Pier will be focused on advocacy for the hemp as a medicine, crop, environmental asset and job creator from 4 pm on with musical performances by Rebelution, Matisyahu, and others.
  • Go West! Craft Fest – West Philadelphia’s largest craft fair takes place from 11 am to 5 pm at 40th and Woodland. Check out the full list of vendors here.

Sunday, September 8th

  • WHYY Connections Festival – Concert performances, family activities and more are free and open to the public at Penn’s Landing on September 7 and 8. Artists include They Might Be Giants, Ben Kweller, Hezekiah Jones, The Soul Survivors, and Temple University’s Owlcapella group.
  • Pretty Pretty Rebel Trunk Show – Art Star Gallery and Boutique, located in Northern Liberties, is hosting one of Philadelphia’s hottest designers in anticipation of her fall line! Free, from 10 am to 4 pm with complimentary mimosas and “brunchy snacks”.
  • Greenfest Philly – This wholly free festival is the largest to do with sustainable living in the Philadelphia area! Over 100 exhibitors and vendors will be in attendance at Headhouse Square at 2nd and Lombard. There will be shopping, food, live music, demonstrations, and kid-friendly activities from 10 am to 5 pm.
