Philly Naked Bike Ride – Do You Dare To Bare?

Join a group of Philadelphia’s most carefree and confident riders on August 25th for the 5th Annual Philadelphia Naked Bike Ride.  The map, start time, and secret location of the approx. 4 mile route  will be announced 48 hours prior to the ride. With an astounding 2,600 participants last year, the event is projected to be bigger than ever.

Since 2004, riders from over seventy cities and twenty countries all over the world have biked naked to celebrate the cycling culture and promote positive self image. The sole mission of the numerous groups that comprise the World Naked Bike Ride is to “demonstrate the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and a protest against car culture.”

Through body paint, political messages and freedom of attire, participants are hoping to raise awareness of the detrimental effects greenhouse gasses from automobile emissions have on our plants and wildlife. The organization believes that by being vulnerable, we can put an end to our dependance on oil and become more self sufficient by using our local resources to  protect our planet.

All ages and backgrounds are welcome to bike, rollerblade, and skateboard for this wonderful group initiative. For those brave Philadelphians up to the challenge, check the website phillynakedbikeride.org two days before the race for exact details, strip down to your skivvies, and come together to protect our environment.
