Monday, July 29th

  • One-Minute Plays – InterAct Theatre Company presents The First Philadelphia One Minute Play Festival, only on the 29th, 30th, and 31st. In collaboration with The One-Minute Play Festival from New York; tickets are $20.
  • Laughs on Fairmount at Urban Saloon – Free weekly stand-up open mic hosted by Mary Radzinski and Carolyn Busa, voted WitOut.net’s Best Philly Open Mic!

Tuesday, July 30th

  • KOMEDY at the KHYBER – 9 pm starts the Kyber Pass Pub’s free “Spicy Summer Stand Up Show” with 7 great presenters.

Wednesday, July 31st

  • Philly Fashion Expo Mixer – Join Philly’s most fashionable at Fire & Ice from 6pm – 10pm to learn more about the Philly Fashion Expo this September.
  • Franklin Square’s 7th Birthday – Celebrate with Benjamin Franklin himself with some cake, sidewalk chalk, and a ride on the carousel. The event is in promotion of Historic Philadelphia, Inc.’s “Franklin for the Fountain” Name a Brick campaign: by donating $100 to the fountain, you can name a brick along the pathways in the Square.
  • Philly Lindy Hop – Novice swing dancers welcomed at the Arts Parlor’s weekly Wednesday night class on South Broad! They’ll get newbies up to speed, and train until you’re a solid intermediate. $10 per class, or series discount offered.

Thursday, August 1st

  • BlackStar Film Festival – From August 1-4 at the the BlackStar Film Festival shows films about and created by people of African descent in a global context at the International House in University City. Films are $10; $7 for students and seniors; $125 for all-festival pass
  • Screenings Under the Stars – Avengers, assemble! The Avengers plays at sundown (8 – 8:30 pm) at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing.
  • Bud Light Presents 50/50/1 with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – With openers Needle Points and The Homophones at the TLA. Tickets are $15.
  • Phreakin’ Art Crawl along East Passyunk Ave from 6pm – 9pm.

Friday, August 2nd – Happy First Friday!

  • Cupcakes, Champagne and Specials at the Baked Tanning Happy Hour- Which by the way just won “Best Spray Tan” in Philly Mag! You have to go check it out and tell them Philly PR Girl sent you!
  • Phreak N’ Queer Festival – The second annual music and arts festival for the LGBTQ community provides a safe performance space for a great line-up of queer/trans* visual and performing artists, August 1-4.
  • IMMORTAL – Alloyius Mcilwaine (of Cultures Clothing Co.) showcases his freestyle art – art improvised on the spot – with over 30 paintings at Skai Blue Media.
  • Smooth Jazz Summer Nights – Nationally-renowned talent Alex Bugnon will perform at 7:30 pm, as part of a weekly jazz series, followed by fireworks at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing.
  • Fashion Party at US*U.S. Designer CO-OP

Saturday, August 3rd

  • 2nd Annual Vanilla Sky All White Affair at  The Delaware Children’s Museum.
  • Renaissance Faire – It’s the first weekend of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, one of the top 5 Renaissance faires in the country! A day of fun outdoors at Mount Hope Estate is $25 online and $30 at the gate.
  • Mercury Radio Theater Presents: The Fabulous Red Menace – A combination of instrumental surf-punk, bizarre radio plays, and iconic animations performed by this 8-piece ensemble promises a dark, dystopian display at Johnny Brenda’s for $10.
  • 80’s Live Music Dance Party – A LivingSocial original experience complete with leg warmers, neon, and a costume contest. Featuring music by the ‘80s group Weird Science and other DJs at the World Cafe Live.
  • Elixr Coffee Mural Unveiling – Coffee Shop off of Broad Street unveils a mural by Jim Houser and Courtney Brown at 8 pm. Sponsored by Yards Brewery and Federal Donuts.

Sunday, August 4th

  • Every Sunday morning in August, yoga enthusiasts of all levels can enjoy a yoga class out on the beautiful Race Street Pier.
  • The Philadelphia Shakedown at the Blockley – FREE monthly Flea Market & Craft Fair. Over 40 local vendors, full brunch menu, Blockley ticket giveaways and box office specials, and BYOVinyl (you bring a vinyl and you get a  free drink).
  • Celebrate the 2nd Annual Reggae in the Park  at the Mann Music Center- Philly’s Premiere Summer Reggae Festival featuring performances by Beres Hammond, Tarrus Riley, Shaggy, Maxi Priest, Yellowman & many more. “Reggae In The Park” features music on both the Mann’s Main Stage and the Skyline Stage including performances from legendary reggae artists plus live DJ sets at the top of the hill, arts & crafts vendors, Caribbean & global cuisine, and more all in the heart of Fairmount Park!
  • First Free Sundays at the Barnes – Visitors can enjoy free admission to the Barnes Foundation from 10 am through 8 pm. Tickets are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and include admission to the Collection gallery, plus any special exhibitions and programming taking place.
  • 2nd Street Festival – From 12 to 10 pm, North 2nd Street between Germantown Ave. and Green Street are closed off to make room for workshops, art, food, beer gardens, merchandise, and other vendors local to the Northern Liberties area.
  • The World Never Dies Another Day – This James Bond Tribute show at the Rotunda features live music, dance, burlesque, and comedy – all set to James Bond theme songs from every decade. $10 at the door.
  • Hoop Dance Performance and Class at “The Oval” – The Oval is the new Pop-Up Park in Eakins Oval.  (12pm – 2pm)
