Next to the ever-popular Han Dynasty in Olde City is a new mustached face in town.  Say hello to Club 879’s new replacement, a restaurant/bar called Prime Stache.  Co-owned by Philadelphia Eagles Brent Celek, the establishment is a perfect balance of casual and trendy.  The exposed brick walls and bronzed lighting cast a relaxed vibe over the restaurant, which matches the comfort food menu perfectly.  The cocktails are complimentary as well with a menu of classics with a twist.  I started my night with a Peach Julep – a tasty bourbon-heavy drink.

For my meal the night started out with a shared tomato and onion salad tossed in vinaigrette.  Some delicious starters followed that included rock shrimp fry, cherry pepper calamari, and sweet pea and edamame ravioli.  The seafood was very tender and prepared flavorfully.  The ravioli was an excellent vegetarian idea with a creamy filling perfect for spring.

Then it was onto a sampling of the main courses: the Stache burger, meatloaf, butternut squash cavatelli, vegetable lasagna, and cedar plank salmon.  The namesake burger was cooked to a perfect temperature and came with homemade potato chips.  Meatloaf was definitely a highlight of the night… Anything that’s wrapped in bacon and glazed with a Coca-Cola barbeque sauce is a winner in my book!  The butternut squash cavatelli was also a favorite with its tender, flavorful short rib.  For vegetarians, there was the delicious lasagna.  Perfectly flaky, the cedar plank salmon was magnificent.

Boy, we were stuffed… but there is always room for dessert!  Not to disappoint, an apple pie presented itself with crisp crust and warm salted caramel.  Of course the night would not be complete without a picture with Mr. Celek himself.
