The Season of Giving

There is nothing we love more at Philly PR Girl than events that bring the community together.  Last week we were invited to attend two fabulous events: Pints for North Lights and Pet Support Phashion Charity Affair.

Pints for North Light supports the North Light Community Center located at 175 Green Lane in Manayunk.  To keep it in the neighborhood, the event was held at Manayunk Brewery & Restaurant. The event featured craft beer from 10 breweries of all sizes. There were recognizable Pennsylvania names such as Victory and Troegs with their seasonal and specialty beers.  My favorite was Troegs Mad Elf – perfect for a Christmas party!  There were also new names that I caught my eye, including Bearded Brew, Sly Fox, and Stone Brewing Company. Bearded Brew currently does not distribute to retail locations, but I heard that they have a rosemary fig batch brewing, and I’m wondering how I can get a taste of that. (Hint hint if you’re reading.)  Sly Fox had a very fun tasting of their Christmas brews as they’ve age over the years, starting from 2007.  The brewhouse also emphasized carbon footprinting and the benefits of canned beer versus bottled beer.  Overall it was a really great event.

While Pints for North Light was a fun, casual event, Pet Support Phashion Charity Affair was a glamorous soiree – even the dogs in attendance were dressed to the nines!  This night supported  the ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement  and the rescue effort and pets effecting by Hurricane Sandy and was brought to you by Greta Russo from Pet Support Phasion Charity Affair and Antoine Johnson from House of Talent PA.  The theme of Angels, which included a live angel modeling at the event!  The night was bound to be entertaining no matter what with FOX29’s Mike Jerrick and CW Philly’s Kharisma McIlaine hosting, as well as DJ Hollywood spinning.  Sigma Sound Stage in Center City was transformed into a luxe lounge with a fashion runway down the middle.  Some featured models were Fox29 Traffic Reporter Kacie MCDonnell, Honorary Chairman Seth Williams, DA of Philadelphia, and Nate Allen, Philadelphia Eagles safety – and their pups featured in Pennsylvania sports teams apparel!  Designers for the pets included Genny Perez, Olga Zablinskaya, and Ada Nieves.  But the show was full of diversity and also included outfits for people by Todd Anthony Couture. The night ended with the cutest doggy bags that included Pet Support Phashion Charity dog tags and homemade treat mix by Gourmet Canine Treats.  My pup loved the treats and forgave me for not bringing her to the event.

Don’t forget, Philly’s largest New Year’s Eve party supports TWO local causes: Rising Songs and Duffy’s Hope. Come out to Lincoln Financial Field and countdown to 2013 with a cause! All winter long, Philly PR Girl will be promoting charitable holiday events.
