Nicki Minaj Shines in NJ!

 

 

Last Friday night at the Wired Fest you could not take your eyes off Nicki Minaj. She is a truly unique performer and she works the stage and audience like no one else. (see video below if you don’t believe me!) Her hair is one of her most famous fashion statements, and on Friday night she had long Barbie-blonde hair. Fitting as one of Nikki’s many nicknames is Harajuku Barbie and she calls her fans, her “Barbies.” Her outfits were amazing throughout the show! Nicki always goes above and beyond with her outfits, which makes you anticipate her coming out on stage so much more.

For her first outfit she wore a pink leotard, of course it was blinged out, with multi-color tights, white sneakers, and a multi-color jacket. The combination of the graffiti backdrop and her neon clothes made me feel like she was channeling the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, which instilled a lot of Philadelphia pride in the crowd. Between performers they played the theme song, and word of advice for anyone outside the Philadelphia area: NEVER challenge someone who lives in a twenty-mile radius of Philadelphia to a sing-off with the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” Theme song. Even when the song stopped the audience continued to belt it out.

Nicki Minaj is a rap princess as evidenced by her stage attire. The next outfit was an all white see-through chiffon white ball gown. I loved when she came out in the ball gown because she made it her own by making it see-through. She has amazing confidence. She easily combines the right combination of edgy and girly at the same time.

The crowd absolutely loved her. She completely works it by dancing, jumping, and shaking it across the stage. The audience did not stop singing or dancing throughout the entire show! Rain, what rain? The rain didn’t stop the crowd from having a fabulous time!
