Radio 104.5 Show Recap: Flogging Molly, Cake, Incubus

On Sunday, May 13th Radio 104.5 celebrated their 5th year on radio, by throwing a “birthday bash” concert at the Penn’s Landing Festival Pier. Naturally, I was in attendance…

The weather was beautiful, the sun was out, all the right ingredients for the perfect kickoff to the summer concert season.

But the big news of the day was that Angels in Airwaves had to cancel due to a sick Tom DeLonge. Tom Delonge reportedly has Pneumonia and unable to fly from Los Angeles.  At first it showed because the crowd was entirely too well behaved!

BUT THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

Up first was the winner of the Radio 104.5 Birthday Bash contest, local band Rivers Monroe.   They opened up with Jimi Hendrix’s version of The Star Spangled Banner.

Flogging Molly brought their A-Game. They Killed it…

Up next was Cake. They were amazing, as always. They opened up with “Stick Shifts and Safety Belts,” and ripped through classics like “Frank Sinatra” and “Sheep go To Heaven.” They played their newer singles, as well as their older hits. And the crowd ate it up (pun intended).

Incubus Headlined (rightfully so) and they did not disappoint. The band was tight and Brandon Boyd was hitting all the right notes.

I will say though their set seemed a little bit slower than I had hoped for. A lot of slow jams, but you can’t go wrong with Brandon Boyd shirtless!  (sorry I had to say it!)

Another great 104.5 show!
